About the Portuguese cut

A Portuguese cut has around 161 facets, nearly three times a brilliant cut's 58. More surfaces catch more light and throw it back — many small flashes instead of a few big ones, and far more of them break into color.

If you would like a different cut or size of stone, or a different metal, please get in touch. Every Glypto is carved by hand, expect some slight differences in each piece.

The Glypto Pendant is carved entirely by hand in wax — the setting, the hammered surface and the bail all cut from the same piece, rather than assembled from parts. The wax is then cast in recycled metal, the diamond is set by hand, and the piece is finished to a satin matte.

Because the bail is carved rather than soldered on, the pendant reads as one continuous form. The hammered texture runs through it without a join.

Solid gold — gold is a soft metal, so small marks appear over time. Clean with warm water and a little mild soap, then dry with a soft cloth.

Gemstones — avoid chemicals and knocks. Store pieces separately so they don't scratch each other, and have settings checked once a year.
